The Foundation
The Fondazione Biotecnopolo di Siena is a nonprofit, private legal entity with registered office and operational headquarters in Siena. The founding members include the Ministry of Universities and Research, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy. The Bylaws of the Fondazione Biotecnopolo di Siena was published on the Italian Official Gazette on June 10, 2024.

Progetto Strategico Nazionale
The foundation aims to: developing applied research and innovation in the field of biotechnologies and life sciences; encouraging the creation of an international network for countering pandemics; promoting and coordinating study, research, technical and scientific development and technology transfer activities.
National Pandemic Center
The Foundation performs the functions of a pandemic hub through the «Centro nazionale anti pandemico-CNAP» (National Pandemic Center) that makes use of first- and second-level spoke centers, as well as pathogen sequencing networks for research, development and production of vaccines and monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of emerging epidemic and pandemic diseases, ensuring the necessary interactions with centers involved in the development of vaccines according to the One Health model.
